That should benefit Panasonic Broadcast & Systems Company, which this month begins shipping the AJ-HDC27V — a new variable frame rate 720P camcorder that not only supports 24P, but also has a variety of frame rates, for overcranking and undercranking.

Hitachi Announces World's First DVD-RAM Camcorder
Hitachi today announced the world's first DVD-RAM camcorder. The DZ-MV100A, now available to the consumer market, records DVD-quality MPEG video or JPEG still photos onto a removable eight centimeter DVD disc. The disc holds one hour of high quality video, two hours of video at standard quality or 1,998 JPEG images at the resolution of 1280 x 960, and can be re-recorded 100,000 times without image degradation.
