Put some 'flash' into Flash
I have to admit that I had become more than a little tired of the use of Flash online over the last 10 years or so. Deepend, the original business I launched back in the mid 90s, was a huge fan and follower of Flash.
Canon 5D MkII DSLR
What could be better than a semi-pro DSLR with over 21 megapixels? How about adding true HD - 1080p at 30 frames per second!
In case you haven't heard the news - a few months ago Canon introduced its new 5D Mark II digital SLR camera and it hit the market like the proverbial 600 pound gorilla. Everyone, and I mean everyone, sat up and took notice when they heard the specs. It wasn't just the 21 megapixel sensor it was packing that had everyone drooling at the mouth to get their hands on the camera.

Award-Winning Director Marc Forster Teams with Cut + Run Editor James Nelson on New Swiss Air Film
Flying - or modern day travel via air - evokes a variety of images but certainly rarely as beautiful or sublime as what unfolds in the new Swiss Air film directed by Marc Forster ("Quantum of Solace," "Finding Neverland," "Monster's Ball"). To help orchestrate and unite the myriad of elements involved, Forster turned to Cut + Run Editor Jay Nelson who worked hand-in-hand with the director and the effects production company MK12 on the project.
Director Tarsem Teams Up With Zoic Studios to Converge Fantasy and Reality for Mountain Dew's New "Level Up or Die" Spot
The Mountain Dew / World of Warcraft cross-promotional spot brought together some all-star players to handle these iconic brands. The production would be executed by Radical Media lead by esteemed director Tarsem Singh. With the vision of the spot being solidified, the team now had to worry about execution. Based on Blizzard's recommendation, BBDO reached out to Zoic Studios to handle the visual effects and animation. Having recently completed projects for Saboteur and Killzone 2, Zoic Studios was hip to the challenge of plunging World of Warcraft game characters into a live action setting.
Essential Final Cut Pro: FxFactory Pro and CrumplePop
Plug-Ins/3rd Party Software Part 3
For this Final Cut Pro (FCP) Plug-Ins and 3rd Party Software apps, I decided to focus only Noise Industries' FxFactory Pro (also available for Motion, Final Cut Express, and Adobe After Effects) and some of key plug-ins, including those from Noise Industries, SUGARfx, yanobox, and Boinx Software. I will also take a look at CrumplePop, which is a very cool "handwritten" text creator that helps editors create handwritten-style graphics on templates that look like paper, Post-It-style notes, masking tape, and more.
13-inch MacBook Pro
The 2009 update to the unibody MacBook gets Pro status, SD card, and more
Over the years, I've had always had access to a Macintosh computer, starting way back with the PowerBook 140, to the dual 450 G4, to a 15-inch MacBook Pro with illuminated keyboard. I used the systems for testing the latest software from Adobe, Apple and others. I've never really became a Mac user, because I have been using Windows computers since 1994 and became used to that OS. But the new MacBooks piqued my interest in part because of their use of aluminum.
